I was a member of the research staff of Intel Research from Sept 2003 to January 2008. I will be moving to Dartmouth as Assistant Professor this year and am an affiliate faculty member at the University of Washington.  I received my Ph.D. (2003) and S.M. (1999) from MIT Media Lab and B.Sc. (1997) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester. My doctoral thesis, Sensing and Modeling Human Networks, was on learning face-to-face communication patterns and the interaction dynamics within a community using wearable sensing devices and machine learning techniques.

My research focus is on machine learning and machine sensing of human and group behavior I am interested in  developing systems that can learn how humans interact with their environment and with each other. These systems will eventually be proactive and use this knowledge to interact with and take actions on people.

Prof. James Kitts and I organized  a workshop sponsored by NSF on Modeling Social Dynamics. The workshop report is now available.
